Meet the team behind Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas’s Training Institute.

  • Eric Coberley

    Director of the Training Institute

    Eric Coberley has been in Law Enforcement since 2005. Coberley has served as a Patrol Officer/Deputy, Field Training Officer, and Patrol Supervisor. In 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division at the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office. Coberley served in this capacity until January 2017. He also chaired the Child Fatality Review Team in Cooke County. He has experience in investigations ranging from property crimes to crimes against person/children. Coberley currently serves as an Investigator (reserve) with the Cooke County District Attorney’s Office. Coberley is a certified TCOLE Instructor and TCOLE Firearms Instructor.

    In January 2017, Coberley accepted a new position with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a Special Investigator. He was paired with a CPS Unit which specializes in child death investigations, sexual abuse, serious injuries, and trafficking. In 2021, he was selected to serve as a member of the Special Investigation’s Training Committee and Special Investigations Training Coordinator for DFPS Regions 3 and 4. He was awarded the 2022 Regional Director’s Award of Excellence and was selected to present at statewide conferences over investigations conducted.

    Presently, Coberley serves as the Director of the Children's Center for North Texas Training Institute. In this capacity, he oversees training programs to various entities including Law Enforcement, the Department of Family and Protective Services, Advocacy Center staff, and other disciplines. The Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas collaborates with more than 60 partner agencies, serving communities across three counties in North Texas. Coberley also currently serves as the chair of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for North Central Texas College.
