Meet the team behind the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas Training Institute.

  • Eric Coberley

    Director of the Training Institute

    Eric Coberley has served in law enforcement since 2005, holding a variety of key roles including Patrol Officer/Deputy, Field Training Officer, and Patrol Supervisor. In 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division at the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office, where he served until January 2017. During this time, he also chaired the Cooke County Child Fatality Review Team and led investigations spanning property crimes to crimes against persons and children. Coberley continues to serve as a Reserve Investigator with the Cooke County District Attorney’s Office. He is a certified TCOLE Instructor and Firearms Instructor.

    In January 2017, Coberley transitioned to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a Special Investigator. He worked within a specialized CPS unit focusing on child death investigations, sexual abuse, serious injuries, and trafficking. In 2021, he was appointed to the Special Investigations Training Committee and became the Training Coordinator for DFPS Regions 3 and 4. His outstanding service was recognized with the 2022 Regional Director’s Award of Excellence, and he has presented investigative findings at multiple statewide conferences.

    Currently, Coberley serves as the Director of the Training Institute at the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas, where he leads training initiatives for multidisciplinary professionals including law enforcement, DFPS staff, advocacy center employees, and other key stakeholders. The Center partners with over 60 agencies across three counties in North Texas. Coberley also chairs the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for North Central Texas College.

  • Jaki Taylor

    Education Coordinator

    Jaki Taylor is a passionate child advocacy professional with a strong background in mental health, records management, and community education. In her previous role at Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Jaki was responsible for managing sensitive records and serving as the primary liaison with the District Attorney’s office. This included ensuring the timely and accurate transfer of crucial documentation, evidence, and records needed to support legal action in cases of child abuse and neglect. Jaki also developed protocols to maintain compliance with state regulations on confidential and privileged records, safeguarding the integrity of the agency’s work. 

    Currently, Jaki is the Education Coordinator at Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas, where she focuses on preventing child abuse through education and training. In this role, Jaki coordinates community outreach efforts to educate students, parents, and professionals on child abuse prevention. She also facilitates training sessions for law enforcement and agency staff, equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to respond effectively to cases of abuse. 

    Jaki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from Angelo State University. Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Transformative Leadership at Angelo State University, Jaki is on track to graduate in 2028. With a deep commitment to fostering positive change, Jaki is dedicated to using education, leadership, and advocacy to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.
